Answers and citations

Analyze answers questions about the videos you select. Every material claim in an answer carries a citation you can open and play.

Ask within a scope

Start from selected videos or a folder. The scope stays visible with the answer, and a large scope is worked through in batches; any recordings that could not be consulted are named. Follow-up questions keep the earlier scope and evidence until you refresh or change them.

While an answer is prepared, the stages are shown: finding relevant moments, checking evidence, writing the answer. Text that streams in is provisional until citations have been checked.

Claim-level citations

A citation sits beside the claim it supports. It shows the file, time range and evidence type, and opens that moment in the evidence pane. Switching between citations keeps your reading position in the answer.

Evidence classes

How evidence is labeled
ClassWhat it isHow to treat it
Recognized speechWords transcribed from the audioCheck the audio for exact wording before quoting
Visible textText read from the pictureCheck the frame
Visual observationA model’s description of what is shownAn observation, not a verified fact

An interview that mentions a red car does not prove a red car is visible. Speaker labels describe who spoke in a recording; they do not identify real people.

Partial, insufficient and failed answers

  • Supported answer: claims are backed by cited evidence.
  • Partial answer: some of the scope could not be consulted, and the limitation is stated.
  • Insufficient evidence: the indexed material cannot answer the question.
  • Conflicting evidence: sources disagree, and the conflict is stated.
  • Service failure: the request failed. This is not the same as “the library cannot answer”, and you can retry.

Questions about “all occurrences”, counts or absence need complete coverage. When coverage is incomplete, the answer explains the limitation or suggests narrowing the question.

When a source changes

If a file is modified or its index is updated, affected citations are marked stale and offer Refresh. An earlier answer never silently points to different content.

Conversations keep their text. Evidence behind an answer stays live for a limited time; when you return to an older conversation, refresh the evidence to play its citations again.
