Connect through MCP
Your library, in your assistant’s context.
Give an authorized assistant read-only access to the folders you choose. It can search and ask with citations, and you can revoke access at any time.
Choose folders and categories. Nothing here connects to a real library or assistant.
Your assistant outside the library
Receives cited evidence
- Interviews / 2026
- Client — Northfield
Every request passes the same check.
Grants are enforced before retrieval and again when evidence is resolved. A request outside the grant gets a refusal, not a partial look at the folder.
Step 1: Request
“Find where the client approved the budget, for my meeting notes.” Scoped to Client — Northfield.
Step 2: Scope check
Check the folder grant and permitted evidence categories.
Denied request
Personal / Family stays outside the grant. The assistant receives “not permitted”.
Step 3: Scoped retrieval
Search permitted recordings only. Excluded folders reveal nothing.
Step 4: Cited result
A recording, exact source time, evidence type and an app link.
Step 5: Human review
Open the cited moment in CutroomOS. Check what was said.
Denied request
Personal / Family stays outside the grant. The assistant receives “not permitted”.
Set up a connection.
Setup happens in the CutroomOS Mac app, not on this website. The app walks you through connecting Claude or ChatGPT, so there is no configuration to copy here.
Read the MCP setup guideTurn on an agent connection in the Mac app
Create a named connection in Agent connections. MCP is off until you enable it.
Choose folders and access categories
Select folders and read-only evidence categories. New folders do not expand an existing grant.
Follow the setup for your client
Follow the validated instructions for your client, then test with an allowed sample.
What an assistant can ask for.
Read-only tools that return stable source IDs, time ranges, evidence type and coverage.
Explore the tools
| Tool | Purpose |
|---|---|
get_library_status | Understand permitted coverage and source availability |
list_videos / get_video | Browse allowed metadata and details |
search_clips | Find matching moments in permitted scope |
ask_library | Ask a cited question; returns an answer or refusal and the consulted scope |
get_transcript | Read permitted speech evidence for a bounded time range |
get_evidence | Resolve the evidence behind a citation |
get_task | Track longer work: state, progress and result |
Scope and revocation
Does connecting an assistant give it my whole library?
No. Each connection has its own grant: the folders it may use and the categories it may receive. Folders you add to your library later are not added to an existing grant unless you deliberately choose an all-current-and-future scope.
Can an assistant change, move or delete my files?
No. At launch MCP access is read-only: no deleting, moving, renaming, exporting or writing files, and no indexing started by an assistant’s request.
What happens when I revoke access?
The connection stops working straight away: no new requests, no further results from work in progress, and no resolving citations it received earlier. Revocation can’t recall information the assistant already received.
Does “local server” mean everything runs offline?
No. The MCP server is the local entry point on your Mac. Search and answers still use the intelligence services your library was indexed with, and your assistant’s own provider may process what it receives.
Can I use a web-based assistant?
Yes. ChatGPT is supported at launch, alongside Claude. CutroomOS does not expose your desktop server directly to the internet.
What if a recording contains instructions aimed at an assistant?
Speech and on-screen text are returned as source data. They never grant permissions or change what a connection is allowed to access.
Connect the library you already have.
Create a connection in the Mac app, choose its folders and categories, then follow the guide for your assistant.
