How it works in practice

  1. Step 1: Create a named connection in the Mac app

Create a named client connection. The MCP server is off until you enable one.

Sample connectionWriting assistant · created in Agent connections

  2. Step 2: Grant specific folders and evidence categories

Choose folders and evidence categories. Future folders stay excluded unless you explicitly include them.

Sample scopeAllowed: Client research · Excluded: Personal / Family

  3. Step 3: Review what the assistant receives

Follow cited moments back into CutroomOS. Revoke access to stop future requests.

Sample request“Pull the founder’s pricing quotes into my launch post” → search_clips, get_transcript → cited quotes

Read-only, scoped and revocable

At launch, assistants cannot delete, move, rename, export or write files, and cannot start indexing. Scope is enforced before retrieval, so unauthorized folders do not appear in results. The assistant’s provider may process information it receives.

Start with the footage you already have.

CutroomOS runs on your Mac and works with the folders where your videos already live.
